About Gospel Light Baptist Church
Gospel Light Baptist Church is an ethnically-diverse congregation, a very "international" church! We embrace the diversity in our community, and we love all people - no matter what language they speak or what country they come from. On a regular basis, we have many different people groups attend our church - Canadian, Filipino, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Nigerian, Spanish, European, Jamaican, and many, many more!
We want Jesus Christ to be lifted up and to have preeminence in all things! The head of the church is the Lord Jesus Christ, not the pastor or the Pope or any other denominational or religious leader. Our pastor provides spiritual oversight and leadership as he seeks to follow Christ and the Word of God. The pastor is called to "feed" the flock the Word of God through preaching, teaching, and communicating the Truth. The Pastor and staff and deacons are ordained to be "servants" - to serve the people of the church in whatever way we can!
Gospel Light believes in key doctrines of the Word of God, "the fundamentals of the faith" - such as the deity of Christ, the virgin birth of Christ, the blood atonement of Christ, and so on. The old King James Version Bible is the only English Bible that our pastor preaches and teaches from. We believe in the divine inspiration and preservation of the scriptures. The Bible is our final authority for faith and practice. The Word of God is our pattern as we seek to truly be a Biblical, God-honouring, Christ-centred church.
Gospel Light Baptist Church is located in Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto, Ontario. Our church is easily accessible by public transit from anywhere in Toronto or York Region. We currently meet at Richland Academy, a private school located at 11570 Yonge Street, just north of Gamble Road, immediately beside the Lexus car dealership. There is a YRT and Viva bus stop just a minute's walk from Richland Academy, where we meet on Sundays.
There are many tens of thousands of Baptist churches around the world. Our church supports many Baptist missionaries that are evangelizing the lost, starting new churches, training people for ministry, caring for orphans, and doing God's work all around the world. Our church exists to preach God's Word, to share the gospel of Christ, to edify believers, to encourage people to love God with all their heart and to love their neighbours as Christ would!
We are passionate about sharing Jesus with others.
Our church is in no way associated with strange doctrines or practices of the new age movement or confusing charismatic church. We do NOT endorse and do NOT associate with any angry, hateful, wierd, crazy people made famous on YouTube, who call themselves Baptists, but who preach and teach strange doctrines that do not align with what the Bible actually teaches. We are striving to follow God's Word and to be identified by Christ as an autonomous, local, New Testament church.
